When the St. Maarten Tourism Bureau approached Big Idea to rebrand the destination following the double impacts of Hurricane Irma and the global COVID-19 pandemic, we knew this would be a chance not just to impact tourism on the island but also to make a mark on the world stage.

We drew inspiration from the amazing and diverse people of St. Maarten and Saint Martin—the Dutch and French sides, the food, the culture, the art, adventure, nightlife and its status as a hub for travel in the region. We recognized that one of the most exciting and vibrant islands in the Caribbean needed a brand that was equally as bold.

On December 1, the Big Idea team was honored to speak at the launch event on-island to reintroduce St. Maarten as #TwiceTheCaribbean and share that work with the people who helped shape it.

Big Idea Founder and President Steve DeFontes, Grace Capuzzo, VP of Brand Strategy, and Pablo Pedro, Creative Director, shared moving stories of the work on the new brand and helped join the St. Maarten Tourism Bureau and the Government of St. Maarten to unveil the new logo and campaign to the delight of the stakeholders and officials in attendance. The launch event also included a ribbon cutting for the new tourism bureau offices at 28 Front Street in the heart of Philipsburg.

There’s much more ahead and even more for travelers to experience on St. Maarten. See more of the new brand here.
